Well we have our first new rule.  I was informed by Exec. VP Hillestead that user names must be unoffensive in nature. This means that when I am verifying union membership, I will now be approving your usernames too. If you aren't sure if it is offensive or not, then it probably is, but submit it anyway, and I will take a look at it.  If you have any questions or comments, they can be directed to me or EVP Hillestead.  Thanks, and enjoy.

I thought that I would put up a step by step guide to signing up for the private forum, so here goes:

 Step One:

Click on the link at the bottom of this page. 

Step Two:

Click on the "Register" link in the top right corner.

Step Three:

Read the agreement, and click on the button that says "I agree to these terms".

Step Four:

Fill in the information requested.  DON'T FORGET TO USE YOUR WORK EMAIL ADDRESS.  See below for instructions on finding your work email address. 

Type the Letters/Numbers in the space provided.  Capital letters don't matter.

Then Click on the "Submit" button.

THAT'S IT.  Now you just have to wait until I have activated your account, which varies in the amount of time it takes.  I am in the process of attaining a list of union members, but until then I will have to keep asking around to verify membership.  Also, as an extra step, you can send me an emai here telling me the User Name that you registered with, and that will usually speed up the process alot, because if you don't, then I have to look up your email address and see who you are.  Anyway, I hope this clears up any questions about the process.  Enjoy.

First things first, THIS FORUM IS FOR VERIFIED UNION MEMBERS ONLY!!  Everyone must go through the sign up process to be allowed access, so it is only us Union Members involved.

Second, I can't tell you this enough, BE SURE TO USE YOUR WORK EMAIL ADDRESS.  For example, my pol number is POL9626.  At work, you can reach me by simply sending an email to "POL9626".  However, that is not my actual Work Email Address.  If you were to send me an email from an external address to POL9626@BOP.GOV, I would not receive it.  My actual work Email address is A7SMITH@BOP.GOV.  This is what you must use.  One of the easiest ways that you can check your address is to send your self an email.  Open a new email, type in your pol number, and send it.  When you get the email, open it, hover your mouse over your name, and it will open a yellow box.  In the yellow box, usually the second item is you email address.  Use that.

Third, while the forum may be small, and dry at the moment, we all hope that one day it will be full of very usefull information.  However, to get it to that point, we need more members involved.  So please pass the word around to all your union friends to join and participate.  This is a great tool we now have at our disposal, but we must utilize it.

There will be more, but right now my mind is blank.  As I come up with more things you should know, I will post them here.  If you have any questions, you can post them in the public forum if you wish, as I try to look at both of them everyday.

The rules are alot more lenient here than in the public forum.
Basically all we ask is that you don't make excessive junk posts, and keep the profanity and flame wars to a minimum....please.
Other than that, this is a private, dues paying member's only forum, so you can pretty much lay it out like it is. I think we will setup a dicipline process similar to the administration.

Step 1, Verbal counseling=We will tell you in what ever forum you are in to mind the rules.
Step 2, Letter of counseling=We will send you a PM telling you to knock off what ever foolishness you are engaging in, or else.
Step 3, Street time=You will recieve a suspension(temparary ban), equal to the infraction, without pay of course.
Step 4, Termination=You will be permanitely banned from the forums. We might allow an appeals process, but it could be rather lengthy, & probably won't turn out your way.

So, anyway, just keep these things in mind when you are surfing the forums, & enjoy yourselves.
